Hello there, I'm Leo 👋
I'm a Software Engineer focused on leveraging AI to prevent harm and enable customer support at scale. Currently I work at Meta, where I tech lead an organization of 150 engineers, setting the technical strategy and partnering with other senior engineers and executive leadership on projects that directly enable the company’s top-line goals.
I grew up in a small beach town in Brazil. My earliest memories are of barefoot games with my brother and cousins, lively family gatherings, and plenty of great fresh food. With a father who was also a Software Engineer, I was surrounded by computers from a young age. Programming became my passion early on, leading me to study Computer Science and compete internationally in programming competitions (ICPC, IOI). Through those contests, I was scouted by a Microsoft recruiter and ultimately offered a Software Engineer position in Seattle. I didn't expect to leave my country, but I couldn't pass on the opportunity to build software at a global scale. Years later, I’m still energized by the challenges of large-scale software engineering.
When I’m not working, you'll find me working out, taking classes, playing sports, dining out, or planning my next trip. I’m also a certified wine professional (WSET 2-3) and wine hobbyist, with a love for exploring the nuances of winemaking and discovering wines from new regions.
